This is a list of BOTH what household items are Acceptable and what items THEY ARE NOT EQUIPPED TO ACCEPT.
These items that Shelby County can't accept can be re-cycled: Televisions*, Microwave ovens* and Copiers*. Go to the "Where to Recycle" page.

  • NO Medical Waste ----- Contact a medical waste company. Consult Yellow Pages Directory
  • No Used Bandages
  • No Pathological Waste (body related parts/fluids, etc) - If you got these to dispose of, you probably need a good criminal lawyer!
  • No Diapers
  • No Soiled Bedding
  • NO Non Propane Cylinders
  • No Fire Extinguishers
  • No Oxygen Bottles
  • No Welding tanks
  • NO Radioactive waste ---- Includes smoke detectors
  • NO Televisions
  • NO Tires ---------------------  Contact your municipal Public Works offices for assistance
  • NO Unidentifiable materials
