1. The RE program will focus on environmental issues on the first Sunday of each month.
On the first Sunday in October, children in grades 1-6 were engaged in demonstrations to show how different materials are recycled at a MRF. In December the topic was consumerism and the children did activities with all the Christmas advertisements from the Sunday newspaper and saw a film entitled, All the Right Stuff. The young person starring in the film comments, "I could live without the mall...but not for very long". The Church of the River children explored how they felt about this statement as well as which voices were the loudest, theirs or the advertisers'. Plans for January through May include resolving to "go green",composting for our spring gardens, gardening and eating locally, wind power (for Kite Day!), and water conservancy to tie in with our selected service project, The Wolf River Conservancy.
2. The Questions of Faith will have an educational program focusing on the same topic chosen by the RE director on the same Sunday.
3. CORneGreen will contain information about local activities; links to web sources; plus what you might suggest.
4. What is your suggestion?
